Nestled on the serene shores of Alamoosook Lake in Orland, Maine, the Alamoosook Lakeside Inn has been a cherished destination for travelers seeking tranquility and connection with nature. Its story begins with Chausey Ashey’s great-grandfather, who originally built the property as a family retreat. Designed to embrace the natural beauty of the lake and the surrounding wilderness, the property served as a gathering place for the family to enjoy Maine’s rugged charm.

Over time, the property evolved into an inn, opening its doors to the community and travelers alike. It became a gathering place for celebrations, weddings, and quiet getaways. The previous owners, who still live locally, have helped pass along the stories and traditions that make Alamoosook special.

In 2024, Chausey Ashey and Michele Booker became the inn’s new stewards. For Chausey, it was a chance to bring the property back into her family. For Michele, it was the realization of a dream: to run a restaurant and care for a place where family meals become lasting memories.

Co-owner and event director Chausey oversees weddings and events, working with couples and families to plan their gatherings at the inn. From wedding celebrations to reunions and other special occasions, she coordinates event details and helps guests make the lakeside setting their own.

As co-owner and chef, Michele leads menu development, food preparation, and catering for weddings and private gatherings. From fresh breads and baked treats to Sunday brunch and lakeside dinners, her love of homemade food is part of the welcome. The inn’s next chapter carries forward a simple tradition: bringing people together around a good meal and giving them a place to make memories of their own.
